March 1–7, 2026: Volunteer Firefighters Week in Tennessee

From March 1 through March 7, 2026, communities across the state observe Volunteer Firefighters Week in Tennessee — a time dedicated to honoring the commitment, courage, and sacrifice of volunteer firefighters.

Recognized by the Tennessee State Fire Marshal's Office and observed during the first full week of March each year, this week highlights the vital role volunteer firefighters play in protecting lives and property — particularly in communities like ours, where volunteers are the foundation of emergency response.

At the Tellico Village Volunteer Fire Department (TVVFD), our members stand ready 24 hours a day to respond to medical emergencies, structure fires, vehicle accidents, and other critical incidents. We balance family life, careers, retirement, and personal commitments with the responsibility of serving nearly 6,000 households — without tax-based funding.

Volunteer Firefighters Week is not only a time to recognize the dedication of our members, but also to acknowledge the community support that makes their service possible. As a donation-funded department, TVVFD relies on the generosity and support of our residents to provide professional training, modern equipment, and reliable apparatus. We thank you for your ongoing support and look forward to welcoming you at our Open House, scheduled annually on the first Saturday in May. This year the Open House falls on May 2nd.

We invite all Tellico Village residents to take a moment this week to thank a TVVFD member, learn more about the Department, and reflect on the selfless commitment that keeps our community safe.
