Open House Reminder & Training Update

As a reminder, the Tellico Village Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual Open House on Saturday, May 2nd, from 11am-2pm. We hope you’ll join us to meet your local responders, see firsthand some of the training and equipment that supports our community, and enjoy free burgers and brats.

One example of that training was hosting an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Refresher course, bringing together Kahite first responders (Hopewell Volunteer Fire Department, Rarity Bay, and TVVFD personnel. This collaborative training strengthened skills, reinforced teamwork, and allowed participants to share best practices across neighboring communities.

EMRs renew their certification every two years through a 16-hour refresher that includes protocol updates and demonstrated proficiency across a wide range of medical skills. Participants must also attest to their active response role with their agency, ensuring they remain ready to serve when the community calls.
